A 17 year old dalit boy by the name of Basavaraja Kadimani was [allegedly] sacrificed to set right Vastu Dosha of the house of Basavanagowda of the same village.

Ninganagowda, the son of Basavanagowda had surrendered to the police saying that he had killed Basavaraja.

 Union Home Minister P Chidambaram questioned the authenticity of the video on the grounds that the ‘people seen in it have not spoken up’. Leading some to say that were a mass grave of anonymous dead people to be discovered in Kashmir (as happens from time to time) , Mr.Chidambaram, would doubt the authenticity of the report on the grounds that the cadavers had not identified themselves or spoken of the circumstances of their deaths and burial.

I couldnt end the day without a bit of a rant. After every spate of sensational violence (violence that is news worthy, as opposed to the state sponsored violence that is a constant in the country), I end up in the same space. You get swamped with the most ridiculous ideas conceivable thrown rampantly around in the midst of a lot of “anger”- some genuine, but mostly a kind of posed sense of outrage- like one ought to be outraged so we will be outraged, because, hey, being angry about “terrorists” is the easiest vent to life’s frustrations. Millions of Hindus can assemble without state patronage for the Kumbh Mela, completely self-organised, but they all leave for home oblivious of the targeting of Hindus in Kashmir, Mau, Melvisharam and Malappuram and do not lift their little finger to help organise Hindus. If half the Hindus voted together, rising above caste and language, a genuine Hindu party would have a two-thirds majority in Parliament and the assemblies.

And that will solve the problem of peace and poverty in the country and we’ll contentedly land our asses in a swanky new golden age. No, you, pathetic idiot.
